Thank you for considering Ashley Bakery as a part of your wedding day. Ashley Bakery has been expertly baking and decorating beautiful and delicious wedding cakes since 1988. We provide consultations and tastings by appointment only. We encourage brides to read this information before contacting us for an appointment.
It is best to schedule your appointment once you have decided upon a date, venue, and much of your reception details. If you are undecided on a date, we are not able to meet with you. Six to nine months before your wedding is a good rule of thumb.
It is helpful to have a preliminary budget in mind before you come to the meeting. Try to be flexible about your design, practical about your budget, and mindful of your needs. It will make you a happy client!
Out of consideration for you and our commitments to other clients, we limit our consultations to one hour.
Purpose & Expectations
Our complimentary tastings are designed to provide a sample of the quality of our delicious cakes. All our cakes are made to order.
We schedule complimentary consultations for cakes estimated to be over $400.
If your cake will be less than $400, you can pick up a sample box. You can choose up to 7 flavors for the box. The sample boxes are $20 each and are available with a 3 day notice. If you book with us, we will credit the amount (less sales tax) toward the overall cost.
We will make every effort to provide you with a sample of the cake and any fillings you have requested. If there is a specific flavor and filling you would really like to try, we recommend ordering a cake for an upcoming event.
At the consultation, we have seating for six, including our consultant. You are welcome to bring parents, bridal party members, and friends. Remember that each person will bring with them additional influences and opinions.
Please bring any pictures, fabric, Pinterest boards, and any ideas which may aid us in creating a special cake for you.
In most cases, you will leave with a basic idea of your cake design and a very rough estimate on the price. We do not provide you with sketches until you have made your commitment to us by sending a deposit. You will receive an emailed quote usually within one week of the consultation date.
We book on a first come, first paid deposit basis. Your date is unconfirmed, and available to others, until we have received a deposit. Our price quotes/estimates are subject to adjustment, and are valid for 30 days.
Deposits and Policies
The full details of our policies are outlined in our Terms and Conditions. If you choose Ashley Bakery to be a part of your wedding day, we ask for a $250.00 non-refundable retainer to guarantee the date and place your order. Your order is not complete without all parts of the contract and a deposit.
The deposit reserves your date and will be applied toward the final price of your cake. The balance and all final numbers are due one month before the wedding date.
The minimum size for a tiered wedding cake is a 10in and a 6in. This cake serves approximately 45 and may be delivered or picked up from the bakery. We have a Sunday minimum of $800.
We are happy to add fresh flowers to cakes, but do not provide them. We have very specific directions for fresh flowers on cakes, which are outlined in our Terms and Conditions.
Delivery and Set-up
We offer delivery and set up in the Charleston area. The starting fees vary.
Wedding Cake Pricing
Our round buttercream wedding cakes start at $5 per serving and average from $6-$12 per serving with artwork, delivery, sales tax and a stand rental.
Below are the average starting prices for our most popular sizes of round buttercream cakes including a stand rental, the standard delivery fee and 10.5% sales tax. These are rough starting prices and do not reflect artwork or specialty fillings.
The average starting price for a round buttercream 2 tier cake to serve 45 is $360.
The average starting price for a round buttercream 3 tier cake to serve 65 is $510.
The average starting price for a round buttercream 3 tier cake to serve 89 is $640.
The average starting price for a round buttercream 3 OR 4 tier cake to serve 116 is $790.
The average starting price for a round buttercream 4 tier cake to serve 184 is $1165.
Almond-Vanilla cake with a splash of almond-our most popular cake flavor.
Vanilla- Plain vanilla for those who like it old fashioned.
Lemon- White vanilla with just a hint of citrus.
Marble- Our White Vanilla swirled with our delicious chocolate ganache filling.
Carrot-A perfect blend of cinnamon, carrots and pecans-hold the raisins!
Pumpkin Spice- (seasonal) When it is Fall and you really want a spicy cake, this cake with cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of clove is sure to please! The pumpkin makes it moist and makes a great Fall cake.
Chocolate-Moist, true chocolate decadence for the chocolate lover.
Chocolate Kahlua-A rich mocha flavored chocolate cake with chocolate chips-perfect for the chocolate and coffee lover.
Hummingbird-This yellow cake is a moist and yummy blend of bananas, pineapple and pecans- great with cream cheese frosting.
Banana Chocolate Chip- A delicious and moist banana cake studded with mini chocolate chips
White Chocolate-A wonderful choice for the white chocolate lover-this flavor pairs nicely with fruit or white chocolate mousse fillings.
Red Velvet-Familiar to all Southerners and Southerners at heart-not as rich as our regular chocolate, a red colored cake with the tang of sour cream.
Sour Cream Pound-This is a moist pound cake just like Grandmother used to make.
Strawberry Sour Cream Pound-Our sour cream pound swirled with delicious strawberries.
Italian Cream-Our family favorite-a delightful combination of coconut, buttermilk and pecans- great with cream cheese frosting.
Coconut-Our delicious White Vanilla cake combined with moist flaked coconut.
Our traditional American style Vanilla Almond Buttercream is included in the serving price.
Fondant frosting is available for an additional $1.50 a serving. Other specialty frostings are available for an additional $.75 per serving. Cream Cheese is an alternative choice to the traditional buttercream flavor.
These frostings are subject to seasonal restrictions.
Each wedding cake tier is split into 4 layers with filling between each layer.
If you would like to add an additional flavor to the profile, consider one or more of the following basic fillings for your cake: $15 per tier
Chocolate Ganache, White Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Mousse, Caramel Mousse, Cream Cheese, Lemon Curd, Chocolate Hazelnut, Strawberries or Blueberries and Cream (seasonal), and Raspberry
You could also add multiple fillings to make an entirely different flavor cake, by following the suggestions below:$30 per tier

Specialty papers and buttercream substitutions are available for an additional fee. White is the standard color. Assorted Buttercream frosting flavors and specialty artwork is available for an additional charge
We have an assortment of cake stands available for rent starting at $35. The stands are rentals and must be returned to the bakery by the Wednesday following the wedding.
Every cake is custom made and decorated. There are artwork charges for your cake, depending on the design you choose, in addition to the per serving price.
Shaped cakes other than round (i.e. square, hexagon, etc.) start at $5.25 per serving.
